With crime being more present than ever these days, it always pays off to protect yourself. Although there are police officers and others out there who uphold the law, you never know when something may happen and they aren’t around. To protect yourself, there are several products and forms of protection that you can get. Among the may products available to you, is something known as pepper spray – which is one of the most common forms of self protection.
Personal protection products such as pepper spray, will work a lot better and yield the most power when you have full belief in yourself. When you have belief in yourself, you will trust your senses, pay attention to what is going on around you, believe in your naturally ability to defend yourself, and show people that you can defend yourself. Although personal protection products are great to have, you need to believe in yourself in order to use them properly.
Protecting yourself is something you simply must do these days. Over the years, personal protection products have become a way of life, with pepper spray being among the most popular and best forms of protection. When used properly, pepper spray can stop humans from attacking quickly and safely. It’s also useful with dogs as well. It comes in an aerosol form, is easy to use, and can stop most attackers in a matter of seconds.
The active ingredient found in pepper spray is OC (Oleoresin Capsicum). The spray comes in 10% or 15%, with a heat rating of 2 million. OC is non toxic, non flammable, and comes from the well known cayenne peppers. When used as a spray, OC acts as an inflammatory agent, causing immediate dilation of the nose, throat, lungs, and eyes – resulting in constricted breathing and temporary blindness. Although it doesn’t lead to death, the effects will last up to 45 minutes, and make attackers feel as if they are dying. The effects will take place immediately, giving victims plenty of time to escape and seek help.
The use of pepper spray is completely legal, although there are certain rules and restrictions that you must follow. As you may already know, you can’t carry pepper spray or any other form of self defense on airplanes. There are also some states that will prevent the use of pepper spray, while others require that you have a FID (Firearms Identification Card) to own or use the spray. To be on the safe side, you should always check with local state regulations before you purchase any form of self defense product, such as pepper spray.
When you are out and about, pepper spray is easy to hide. Women normally keep it in their purse, where it is easy to access. If you plan to carry it in your purse, always make sure that it is easy to access, with nothing in the way. You can also carry it in your pocket or in your coat as well, where you can easily reach it in a moment’s notice. An attack can occur in a matter of seconds – which is why you want to be able to reach it fast.
All in all, pepper spray is a great self defense tool. It can also be a deadly weapon if it isn’t used properly. Whenever you carry pepper spray, you should always follow the safety precautions and rules of the spray. If you use it for self defense purposes and know how to properly use it – you can enjoy the confidence and security that it provides.

One of the most annoying things about moving house is the cleaning ? and removing stubborn stains and marks is one of the hardest things to do when prepping your house for a move. Its always important, when using these tips to spot test and ensure that you won’t be doing more damage than good. You should also always take your cleaning items with you ? a box of your most commonly used items or a checklist can save you time and effort in the long run.
Some of the most common stains and marks can be removed with ease ? with every day household items.
Scuffs and marks on woodwork can be removed with a pencil eraser ? these marks, from shoes, wheels, or rubber bumping against things are hard to remove any other way, but come off with ease with a rubber.
Toothpaste isn’t just great for cleaning teeth ? you can use it to remove stubborn ink, crayon, or scuff stains from any surface ? be careful to test it on wallpaper first in an inconspicuous place. You’ll have to remove most of these stains from walls before painting as they can show through several layers of paint.
Toothpaste is also good for removing crayon from radiators, or glass ? just rub lightly with a non abrasive cloth, or for tough stains, leave to sit for up to one hour before scrubbing gently.
You can remove unwanted paint from most woodwork by carefully scouring with a brass scourer ? not too hard though, or you’ll scratch the other paintwork.
Scum stains, dried toothpaste and lime scale come off with liberal application of an oxy based paste ? you can get any ‘oxy’ based cleaner (one that fizzes and heats up the water slightly) in most supermarkets.
You can remove moldy or damp smells just about anywhere with bicarbonate of soda. Simply apply to the smelly area (or leave a tub open in a cupboard or fridge) and the smell should be vastly diminished or gone within 24 hours. The same goes for activated charcoal, or a few drops of vanilla on a cloth. Baking soda is good for a whole month, so can be used continually, not just for cleaning for a move.
If you’re washing textured walls, use a nylon sock to do so ? it means you won’t leave fluff in your wake ? and always wash walls from the bottom up to avoid streaking, applying any cleaning solution you’re using (once tested to ensure paint, or wallpaper fastness) in small patches whilst you’re cleaning.
You can remove wax from carpets, floors or curtains simply by using an absorbent cloth and a hot iron ? the wax should stick to the absorbent cloth and peel away easily.
Finally, don’t mix cleaning products ? most contain either ammonia or bleach and when combined the fumes are deadly. Care should be taken when cleaning any are that has been spot treated with a different solution than you are mopping with, because not only are some mixes deadly, but others can react with one another and cause spotting, or ugly marks.

When looking to buy a house, the location of the house is very important. Most people want to buy a home in a decent neighborhood, as they have the intention to remain at their home for many years to come. If someone is planning to buy a home strictly for the resale value, then the location will prove to be even more important. The resale factor of a home is very dependant on the location, simply because someone wouldn’t want to buy a home that wasn’t in a decent neighborhood.
When buying a home, the general rule of thumb is to purchase a home that will appeal to a large number of potential buyers. To do this, you’ll need to look at the location of the home. The community is very important, especially in terms of crime. If you buy a home in a neighborhood that is well known for crime you’ll more than likely have difficulty when you try to sale. Bad neighborhoods generally spark little to no interest. These days, people want to buy homes in the best possible neighborhoods that they can afford.
When buying your home, you should always narrow the choices down a few of the best cities around you. You’ll want to buy your home in a community that has a very stable economy and plenty of commercial and business districts. This way, when you decide to sell your house, you can rest assured that your house is in a good selling area. You should also look at the crime statistics for the area as well. If the crime rate is high, you should look into another area.
You should also look into the local school system as well. Even though you may not have kids now, you should always think about the future. A home that is within a short distance to shopping centers and quality schools are always easy to sale. If you buy a home that is in a bad neighborhood and has poor schools, you’ll quickly regret that decision. If you can’t afford to purchase a home that is in a good location, you should work on your credit and save up some money until you are able to purchase a home that is in a desirable location.
Although the size of a home is important, the location is one of the most important aspects to buying a home. The location is important for those living in the home as well as the resale value. A home that is in a desirable location is always easy to sale, for the simple fact that the location speaks for itself. If you’ve been thinking about buying a home for the resale value ? you should always make sure that you pay close attention to the location.

De-cluttering before packing is an important aspect of preparing to move – because it allows you to decide what you’ll need for the new house, what you’ll have room for, and what you won’t.
The most important thing to remember when de-cluttering is that you’ll be making room and getting rid of emotional baggage, whilst lowering your moving bills. An average four person house requires at least a seven tonne van to move, whilst a house that doesn’t de-clutter might need twice that!
De-cluttering can be considered essential or heartless – but either way, moving house is one of the best times to do a proper de-clutter – in fact sometimes, its the only ‘spring clean’ that some people do. And while its always good to hang onto things of sentimental value, do you really need a newspaper from 1985 with an article about something that you needed to follow up within a week of the printing?
Get rid of any papers that you don’t need (though keep all important documentation) – consider donating any magazines, books, old toys or clothes in good condition to a local charity – or sell them on Ebay or similar, to make some cash.
These donations and sales make mental and space sense – you’re not wasting perfectly good items you will probably never use again, and you could sell the really good condition items in a variety of places. You could hold a yard sale, or garage or even a car boot sale – or if you have enough time, auction them online, either via a recognized site, or through your own website, if you have the know how – getting rid of the things you don’t need is both very freeing and releasing, and can actually generate you some extra money for the move. You could even sell off surplus office, or craft supplies, if you have them spare, making your home office move leaner, and easier.

In the past, many have often wondered how they can keep check on things at home while they were on a trip or vacation ? hundreds of thousands of miles away. These days however, keeping tabs on your home while you’re away is quite possible. With the Internet and today’s technology ? you can keep watch on your home no matter how far away you may be.
Although the technology may sound a bit out there at first, this day and age it certainly isn’t out of reach. The hardware used for surveillance is inexpensive these days, and ready to use all over the world. All it takes is someone with a bit of common sense and the curiosity to try new and exciting technology.
To use these types of equipment, you’ll need a reliable connection the Internet. The Internet is the heart and soul of distance surveillance equipment, enabling you to keep a check on your home from hundreds of thousands of miles away. If you are planning to invest in an Internet powered surveillance system, you should first make sure that you can get a high speed Internet connection to your home. Dial-up isn’t recommended, as the speeds are far to slow to broadcast video.
There are two solutions that you can choose from, each one varying in features and complexity. The first solution utilizes a personal computer. Several home surveillance cameras are connected together to a system that will survey their areas and record what they see at either a set rate per second, or going by movement they detect. Depending on the system you get, you may or may not be able to adjust these settings.
The computer will play back the video via the monitor, and record the video to the HDD, or hard disk drive. You’ll need to connect the computer to the Internet through an ISP (Internet Service Provider), in order to watch the video from a distance. To watch the video while you are away from home you will need to log into the computer with a unique username and password. You can log in at any time, and to operate the computer or watch the video images that the computer surveillance system has recorded.
The other solution you have available is much easier. Normally, this solution is used to check on a home through a single surveillance camera. Setting things up this way will allow you to use a single camera through your IP (Internet Protocol) address. By setting it up through your IP, all you need to do is check on things is to link directly to your IP. Once you have brought up your IP address, you can see live views through the camera. This method works similar to a webcam, in the sense that it streams video around the clock.
No matter which solution you choose, both are somewhat easy to use. Of course the second solution is much easier to use and setup, although it does have it’s downsides as well. Both have great things to offer you as well, including the ability to log in at any time. You can check video any time you wish, even chance your preferences based on what you need.
Anytime you need to monitor your home from far away, home surveillance and the Internet is all you need. The Internet is a common commodity these days, capable of doing far more than anyone ever thought possible. By investing in a surveillance system that utilizes the Internet ? you’ll be able to keep a watchful eye on your home from wherever the road takes you.
